MEGA RUN IN JAIPUR FOR THE WORLD MILITARY GAME

The Indian Air Force organised a "Run for Fun" at 24 Cities, including Jaipur, Jodhpur across, the country (INDIA) on Tuesday 27/03/2007.The Run was precursors to the World Military Games to be held at Hyderabad and Mumbai from October 14 to 21.

At Jaipur, three races were organized by the South –Western Command. The event received a splendid response in the city with nearly 1500 enthusiasts including Women, Children, School and College Students, NCC Cadets, Ex-Service men running Step to step to celebrate the grand occasion.

Home Secretary V.S. Singh , Admiral V.S.Shekhawat and Admiral Madhvendra had flagged off the three races for different age groups of people in the city at 7 A.M. on Tuesday. The Races Culminated at the Polo Ground of the 61st cavalry where the Army Commander awarded cash prizes ranging from Rs.10,000.00 – Rs.20,000.00 as well as mementoes to Winners.

Army Commanders, South – Western Command P.K.Singh said " The Army has always aimed to promote sports in India , through such events. As a result , performance of the services teams in different sports at the Guwahati , National Games was exceptionally well".

The World Military Games , scheduled at Hyderabad and Mumbai from October 14-21 this year, are being held after a gap of four years.

"The First Military Games were held at Rome In 1995, then at the Czech Republic in 2003".The Army Spokes person said.

Besides Jaipur , Similar runs, are also organized at other places of Rajasthan 200 days ahead of the scheduled date of games.
