Age Proofs accepted by Insurers
Standard Age Proofs accepted by Insurers in India:
1. Passport
2. Certificate of Baptism
3. Extract from school or college register
4. Certificate of birth from Municipal Authority
5. Marriage certificate issued by the Roman Catholic Church
6. Extract from service records of employees of government and quasi government institution and reputed commercial and educational institutions
7. Extracts from the service records of employers who verify the age of the employee at the time of recruitment
8. In the case if the proposer is Defence personnel his Identity Card issued by Defence Department
Any other document can be used as standard age proof if the date of birth had been proved on the basis of any one of the standard age proofs accepted by the Insurer. If anybody is not having the above age proofs then it depends on the underwriter’s decision who may allow insurance cover if he is satisfied that the risk is not too much to provide insurance cover. He may also ask for extra premium if he is not satisfied or can deny the proposal.
