Minimum Requirement to become an Insurance Agent in India
Becoming an Insurance Agent needs some minimum requirements that are compulsory to become an Agent and carry out work.
The minimum requirements for becoming an Insurance Agent in India are:
1. He/She should have completed 18 years of age
2. Should be
A) 12TH standard or equivalent examination passed (if appointed in a place with a population of 5000 or more)
B) 10TH standard or equivalent examination passed (if appointed in a place with at population less than 5000)
3. Should have passed pre- recruitment examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India or any other examination body as recognized by the IRDA ( Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority)
4. Should have taken at least 100 hours of practical training from an institute approved by IRDA ( Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority)
5. Should not have been found guilty of criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery misappropriation or attempts to commit such offence
6. Should not have been found of unsound mind
